If your like me, I know you are starting to put together your Summer reading list. What's better round the pool, next to the ocean, than having a tall cool drink in-hand and an awesome book to read. During the cold winter months I tend to gravitate towards non-fiction, but when nice weather hits I want something fun, and "The Returns" has it.
So happy I picked up "The Returns" by author M.K. Clinton. An absolute pleasure to read. The story centers around four men who, having died prematurely, are bought back to earth to finish their unfinished business, as dogs. Yup...Dogs, and lovable crazy ones at that.
The story is set amid the rich backdrop of New Orleans during Marti Gras. I love M.K.'s homage to New Orleans much in the same way that Armistad Maupin really brought San Fransisco to life in his "Tales of The City" Series. Trust me, you'll be craving some gumbo & a beignet (or two) after reading this.
Pages turned quickly, as I got hooked into this tale of a team of dogs headed by deceased FBI agent Bentley "Hound Dog" Clanton (now a Bassett Hound) out to catch the bad guy and put him behind bars. Aided in their noble quest by a Guardian Angel, a cat and Bentley's ex-partner on the FBI, hilarity ensues.
I don't want to give too much away. A great book for the whole family. Be sure to check out the next installment in "The Returns" series as well.
